Guardiagrele is an Italian town of 9,092 inhabitants in the province of Chieti in Abruzzo. It is home to the Majella National Park and is part of the mountain community of Maielletta. Famous for its handicraft productions, particularly in metal work, as well as being the birthplace of the goldsmith, engraver and painter Nicola da Guardiagrele, hosts every year from 1 to 20 August the Festival of Artistic Handicraft of Abruzzo. It was the the first place, together with Agnone, where began the production of "presentosa" an Abruzzo female jewel generally in gold, worn on festive occasions. Guardiagrele is part of the community of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
