Description
Jimi Hendrix - 07
Jimi Hendrix was one of the greatest innovators in the field of electric guitar: during his artistic life, so brief and intense, he became a forerunner of many structures and the sound of what would have been the future evolution of rock through an unprecedented fusion of blues, rhythm and blues / soul, hard rock, psychedelic and funky.
According to the ranking published in 2011 by Rolling Stone magazine, he was the greatest guitarist of all time. He is in fact in first place on the list of the 100 best guitarists according to Rolling Stone, preceding Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page.
Two of his performances, in particular, came into the collective imagination: his debut at the 1967 Monterey festival, in which he ended the performance by setting his guitar on fire in front of an appalled audience, and the closing of the Woodstock festival of the 1969, during which, with a desecrating artistic visionary, he reinterpreted the US national anthem in a provocatively distorted and cacophonic way that he, however, defined as beautiful. This also made him one of the biggest critics of the Vietnam war.
Hendrix was introduced to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992
