Description
Seville, Triana bridge - 01 by Andrea Mazzocchetti
A view of the magnificent Isabella II Bridge, known as the Triana Bridge, in the fabulous city of Seville, the capital of Andalusia in southern Spain. The city retains an aura of unique charm in the world and is embellished with architectural views and marvels of all kinds, which have gone through several centuries of history.
Triana is a famous district of the Spanish city of Seville, located on the right bank of the Guadalquivir river.
The name derives from a Roman colony founded by Trajan, a native of the nearby city of Italica.
Of Triana were the sisters Santa Giusta and Santa Rufina, patron saint of the city, martyred in 287 AD, during the persecution of Diocletian, and Rodrigo de Bastidas, discoverer of Panama and Colombia.
The district had a popular character, inhabited by sailors and workers and became famous for being the birthplace of several flamenco bullfighters and dancers.
The district is connected to the rest of the city by the Isabella II Bridge, better known as the "Triana Bridge", built between 1845 and 1852 by engineers Gustavo Steinacher and Ferdinand Bennetot, a national historical monument since 1976.
In this artwork, perfect for lovers of Spain and the Andalusian city, you can also admire the Castillo di San Jorge. The Castle of San Jorge was a medieval fortification built on the right bank of the Guadalquivir River, in the Spanish city of Seville, Andalusia. It was also used as the headquarters and prison of the Spanish Inquisition. It was demolished in the 19th century to build a food market. Currently in the underground ruins there is a museum center on the castle, the Spanish Inquisition and on religious repression. It is located in the neighborhood of Triana.
