Los Angeles, Venice Beach - 05 by Andrea Mazzocchetti

Venice is a district of the West side of the city of Los Angeles. It is known for the beach (Venice Beach) and the canals (hence the name), but also for the 'bohemian' aspect of its residential area and for the folkloric promenade (Ocean Front Walk).
Venice was founded by Abbot Kinney in 1905 on the Renaissance model of the city of Venice (canals, gondolas and annexed gondoliers) with the idea that it became an important center of tourism and entertainment, something that was a reality until the twenties. The discovery of oil, with the consequent pollution of the canals that were mostly paved and turned into roads, and a colossal fire that completely destroyed the pier and its installations marked the beginning of the district's decline. It was only in the 1980s that the Los Angeles administration undertook a policy of recovery of the area, which from a degraded neighborhood has turned into a coveted place of residence....
