Description
Prague Astronomical Clock by Andrea Mazzocchetti
The Prague Astronomical Clock is a scientific monument of the medieval period, located in the capital of the Czech Republic. The clock is mounted on the south side of the Old Town Hall, in the Old Town Square and is one of the most important tourist attractions in the city .
The mechanism is composed of three main elements: the astronomical quadrant, on which, in addition to the hour, the positions in the sky of the Sun and the Moon are represented, along with other astronomical information; the "Procession of the Apostles", a mechanism that, at the stroke of every hour, puts into movement the figures representing the 12 Apostles; and a lower quadrant consisting of 12 medallions representing the months of the year.
